Our Snake River Community Garden Project continues to move ahead!

Liz Alexander is providing visionary leadership on the Snake River Community Garden, 500 Stampede Drve.

Next school year the Snake River elementary school will transition into Gateway school and will also be the location to serve kids of migrant workers and children in homeless families. Liz is gathering stakeholder feedback from the school district, Idaho Hispanic Cultural Center and the Boys & Girls Club to better understand community needs.

Through the winter, dead and hollow plant stems and curled leaves provided habitat for insect hibernation. Now that it's been over 50 degrees, the clean up has started and we'll be sure to keep the soil covered so it stays alive.

After gathering input and getting approval from the school district, our club will be ready to purchase and install a shade structure, which will provide community space.

Our club received a $5,000 district grant to match our $5,000 for a total of $10,000.
