Kimbra Shaw
Executive Director for Hope House
Hope House is one of the oldest nonprofits in the country.  They’ve been serving at-risk youth from disrupted circumstances since 1972. This ministry is dedicated to providing a home-like, family atmosphere where young people—especially those who have faced trauma, abuse, or neglect—can reach their fullest potential. In addition to long-term residential care, Hope House offers community, educational and vocational opportunities, and people who will listen, demonstrate the love of Christ and guide them towards independence.

Hope House is privately funded.  In fact, 60% of annual support comes from churches and individuals.

Hope House was founded by Donnalee Velvick-Lowry with the vision of creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for youth facing significant challenges. "Our home-like setting provides a family-oriented approach, focusing on emotional support, education, and personal growth. We work with youth who come from backgrounds of trauma, foster care, and failed adoptions, providing them with the tools they need to heal, grow, and succeed in life."

Programs include:

●     Residential Care: A family-style living environment with 24/7 staff support.

●     Education: On-site, fully accredited private school and individualized learning plans.

●     Vocational Training: Job readiness programs and internships to prepare youth for successful careers.

●     Mental Health Services: Trauma-informed care, counseling, and emotional support.

●     Life Skills Training: Teaching youth critical life skills like financial literacy, time management, and independent living.
