Empowering girls in rural Togo, Africa to stay in school.
The S H E (Strength, Health, and Education) program began in the small town of Notse, Togo — a country known for its vibrant culture and entrepreneurial women, yet facing some of the world’s lowest rankings in gender equality and human development. In rural areas, girls receive just 2–3 years of education on average, and only 33% advance to junior high. With 69% of the rural population living on less than $1.90 a day, poverty remains the biggest barrier — disproportionately affecting girls.
S H E addresses these challenges by providing scholarships, school supplies, and menstrual health kits to keep girls in school. The program also offers mentorship to build confidence and leadership, tackling the root causes of gender inequality and helping create a brighter future — one girl at a time.
